Superb 13th century ThaiBuddha in the transitional style between Khmer and Thai Buddhist styles (Lopburi). Very thinly cast example, as bronze was extremely scarce during some periods in Thailand during this and the Utong period (which came just after this period-there are many very thin ly cast Utong Buddhas) in Thailand. They also removed the bases from some Buddhas (including this one) during some early periods in Thailand to make other Buddhas due to the scarcity of metal. Even though it is worn and has original casting flaws, the classic face and quality of the sculpting come through clearly. Sits 5.25 inches tall, 7.25 inches including the modern base.
