Bronze scroll case with approx. 150 Buddhas adorning it. Inside is a certificate from an expert in Japan, dated 1961, that to the best of his knowledge, the case is more than 200 years old (in 1961) I recently saw an example of the exact same form with very closely related lotus leaves and cover (but without the Buddhas covering the surface)that was dated to the Muromachi period by an extremely knowledgeable dealer in Japanese antiques, which means it is likely this piece is more than 500 years old. The price on that one was significant, even without the profusion of Buddhas covering the surface that this one has.
