Superb Japanese Buddhist Celestial Figure made out of lacquer. Probably originally flanked one side of the head of a very large Buddha in a temple. Size is huge at approximately 28 inches tall, 19 inches wide and 8 inches deep. Appears extremely old, with remains of original black lacquer. Possibly Kamakura period. Powerful and rare.
