18th Mongolian Tsong Ka Pa. Massive at 20.5 inches tall and 23 inches tall on its custom base. Superb face. Thick copper repousse (19thC are thinner walled than this), Well-constructed, very solid, and in exceptional condition. One dent in the back of the headdress otherwise near perfect . Best of this type you will encounter in this size anywhere including in museums or books. The previous owner, who lives in New York City, inherited it from a relative who purchased it through an auction in Russia many years ago when a small Eastern Russian regional museum was closed down. Item 6666 on my website, one of my all-time best Mongolian sculptures, came from the same source. It has been the centerpiece of my personal collection for the past 25 years and is a signature piece of my website.
