"This is one of the most vivid small Mongolian Thangkas I have ever owned—an exquisite, brilliantly preserved painting purchased in the 1990s from a wealthy Mongolian collector, who selected it from his finest personal pieces as a gift of gratitude for a long friendship. The Thangka itself measures 6.75"" x 9"", and is presented in a custom frame measuring 13"" x 15 1/8"", complete with silk matting and museum glass.



Likely early to mid–20th Century, it survives in remarkably fresh condition. While many Mongolian Thangkas—often sold in the West as 19th century—show significant darkening or wear due to harsh environmental conditions, this example remains bright, clean, and astonishingly crisp, suggesting it was kept for decades in a Gau box, drawer, or trunk. Its colors are as vivid as the day they were painted. A rare treasure then, and nearly impossible to find now. Many comparable works ultimately return to Mongolia or China—this is a chance to acquire one of the finest small-format Thangkas of its type."
