18/19 century Tibetan aescetic or other holy man. 6 3/8 inches tall. Retains its original base plate, which is an outstanding version of its type, which is a Napoli style plate, though this is likely a Tibetan piece. It appears to have never been tampered with and to likely have its original contents, which is quite rare for this type of figure. It is a very well sculpted and cast peace with a beautiful chocolate brown patina. These are much less common than Buddha or. Bodhisattvas, and I have only seen a small handful in 35 years of collecting and selling, and this is the first one that was still consecrated.
This one is very distinctive in the abstracted way in which the bones are showing through his "skin".( 6.5"H x 4.25"W x 4"D ) - ( Knees 4" ) 2.23lbs//1.010kg
