Antique Tibetan or Chinese bronze Buddha-Exceptional large example. It is remarkable for its incredible amount of fine detail, as well as for its beautiful face and deeply spiritual presence. When I first saw it, I almost passed it by. The face grabbed me, and I could not help but give it a closer look. The longer I looked, the more impressed I was with the level of detail. It's a little hard to see at first, but incised Design work inside the robe squares shows various astrological imagery. This is the same as in some of the 15th-century . It is quite heavy. It's a little difficult to get an exact weight as it is difficult to manage, but it is more than 50 pounds. The packed box will weigh about 70 pounds. The base, which appears to have been consecrated until recently, looks to have been pried open in one spot. The inside must have been filled or mostly filled with a mix of herbs, which had a large amount of rosemary or other fragrant herbs as they continue to come out in small amounts through the small opening in the bottom in one spot. It could easily be sealed with. Wax or other sealing method, I leave this to the next owner. All I have done is press the bottom slightly to tighten it up. The wear looks correct In that it shows more in the places where someone would have picked it up or would have cleaned it more on the right side(Most people are right-handed); this, along with the casting and overall look and feel, led me to believe that this Buddha was made in 19th to 20th century.
