Excellent Ayuthaya Buddha head from the 17/18th century out of an old estate. In very good condition- loss to the top of the finial, but every thing else is in superb condition, including having most of the original gilding (with perhaps some later gilding added during ritual worship). The quality of the sculpting and casting is excellent- with a lively, serene expression. This would have been a spectacular Buddha which would have sat about 24 inches high. It sits close to 5.5 inches tall and is about 3.5 inches deep. It is incredibly heavy for its size. One of the nicest of this type I have seen in a very long time.
