9-11thC Pala Era, but from Bangladesh. The previous owner purchased it in Bangladesh in the 1970s while working with an international non-profit. I had the base custom-made by a well-regarded metal sculptor, specifically for this piece in the 1990s to complement the shape and patina. I've never seen another like it, though it is similar in many ways to the Northern Indian and Early Southern Himalayan Sculpture of the same period. The great face has the radiance found in the great bronzes of this period. It's a true collector's piece and extremely rare. ( 5.25"H x 2.25"W x 2.25"D ) - 2lbs.
