18 C or earlier Large and heavy Korean bronze or brass Bodhisattva. It has clear remains of old gilding and dark red lacquer. Nice large finely cast example. Closely related to Christies 1992 #89 page 32, Amsterdam, Tuesday, June 16, 1992, That one was dated as 18th C or earlier and had a pre-auction estimate (35 years ago) of 2500 Dutch Guilders. This one is slightly larger and finer. Special Buddha with real presence to it. I've never had(or seen another of this type other then the slightly lesser Christie's example. ( 13.5"H x 4.5"W x 4.5"D ) - 4.76lbs, Base: ( 1.25"H x 6"W x 6"D ) 4.65lbs.
