Early Chinese Stone Bodhisattva-probably 17thC or earlier. The face is unique and deeply expressive. Graceful, beautifully carved and sculpted, and in excellent condition. Surface patina, look and feel, and pitting of the stone support it being many hundreds of years old, An all-time personal favorite. I had originally thought this might be Japanese, but the person I purchased it from told me his grandparents brought this out of China in the early part of the 20th century when they emigrated to the USA and brought this with them over 100 years ago.
