Country Group:
12thC or later Tibet or other nearby early Himalayan Kingdom. Silver inlaid eyes. It is delightfully animated for such an early piece. It has a distinctive shape, as seen in 12th—and 13th-century Himalayan sculptures of this type, with a long, thin body. This is usually more obvious when the figures are standing (which this figure is not). They typically have relatively long, thin arms and legs as well. From the top of the head down the outer edges of the sculpture to the ground make a nearly perfect triangle. This is one of the features common to this early style of 12/13th figure. Note on the Bottom of the sculpture how thickly cast it is. This makes it quite heavy for its size. The consecration appears intact, though I cannot be sure of this. If it is, this is remarkable for such an early piece. It has a youthful, animated presence makes people smile when they look at its face. Reminds me of some early pieces I have seen from Ladakh. Domestic shipping is included. (3.125"H x 2"W x 1.25"D ) - 150g.
