Beautiful 15thC Burmese Arakan style "Jambupati" Buddha (type of "Buddha in royal attire" specific to Burma). This type typically has very thick lacquer that softens the details. Underneath the lacquer and gilding it is a well-cast Buddha. (I know this because many/most of this type have lost almost all of their lacquer and gilding (unlike this one which has its lacquer remarkably intact). losses to the crown and the back of base-some
Parts of the crown are cracked, and the integrity of the metal is weakened, so it may eventually lose more of the crown. Most of the examples of this type I have seen are half the size of this one. (10.5"H x 6.75"W x 5"D ) - 4.61lbs // Base: (1.5"H x 8"W) - 2.43lbs
