Antique Tibet/Nepal, Bronze Dakini in Lively Attitude. ( 16.5"H x 10"W x 4.75"D ) - 6.44 lbs.. here we have a remarkably large and powerful Buddhist Dakini cast in bronze. The casting is very thin for this type. When I first picked it up, I was concerned because the casting was so thin in the base. As I spent time looking at it, and saw the care and attention put into the ribbons and jewelry, and how when you step back and look at the overall statue how well executed it appears. These are hard to make well even when they are six or 8 inches high. To make one that is 16 inches high, that when you step back has everything well articulated and nicely finished, and that the balance and symmetry is: right:” is a real achievement. If it were heavily cast in the high quality Tibetan style, at 16 inches tall it could be $50,000 or more. When I picked it up some black stuff came off on my hands. At first it had me concerned, but it seems like it was from either sitting there for a long time and gathering or from being on an altar. It was purchased by the last owner through a highly reputable German auction house .
