8th to 11th century Dvaratii Bronze Buddha -Fineminiature early Thai or Khmer. Purchased by the previous owner in the 1970s/early 80s from a farmer in Thailand who found it on his land with the use of a metal detector, which had recently come into use. he found many small metal objects from through the ages, including this very special little Buddha. I?ve seen many Buddhist related to this one in over 35 years of collecting and dealing, including a few other miniatures and near miniatures. This is one of the very best, in any size. Generally, in the Buddha world, bigger is better. An exception is a Buddha like this, which is both highly functional as a perfect size amulet already sealed in an acrylic case, and is remarkable in the quality of the sculpting and casting and finishing for such a minute bronze sculpture. Look at the face very closely. Blow it up and you?ll see a beautiful sensitive face that has echoes of Haripunchai, Angkor Wat and in Thailand, Utong. A perfect buddha to wear every day. One could enhance the case by having silver or gold wrapped around the edge of the acrylic case. If you don?t wear an amulet and prefer to have the Buddha out of the case, it can be cracked open, I have done it myself many times. Let us know if you want more photos, though it is hard to get any more detail with the Buddha in the acrylic case. I don?t want to take it out of the case myself as I want to leave it to the next buyer to make that decision after they have it in their hands. The actual Buddha is 1 inch tall. It is always possible that these are not as old as they appear as there have been very skillful copies made for centuries that fool the best experts. Please examine for yourself and make your best evaluation.
