Early rare Korean bronze Buddha. Beautifully wax cast in a way that shows great detail. Probablyin the range of 1000 years old ( 5.5"H x 2.5"W x 2"D ) - 1.57lbs. A large for its type, look into the open back and you can see some of how it was originally cast, using bronze rod. The details are extremely clear as they seem to have been added in a second casting./firing, rather than being part of a single cast statue. Much more complex and animated than the more common smaller early bronze, Korean Buddhas that you occasionally see in the marketplace.. This is the first piece of its type I’ve come across in 30 years of searching.
