Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This superb 18th/19th Century Mongolian Thangka, depicting five powerful dakinis, is a striking example of early tantric painting—beautifully executed and remarkably well preserved. The composition radiates energy, with vibrant pigments and confident linework that reflect the skill of a master artist. The entire hanging measures 20.5" H x 28" W x 1" D (cloth area approx. 19.5" x 31"), while the painted image itself is 12.75" x 14.5". Acquired over 35 years ago for my personal collection, this piece was later sold and has only recently returned to me as part of a cherished group reclaimed from a longtime collector preparing to downsize. It is a rare privilege to offer it once again—a powerful, elegant, and museum-worthy Thangka with deep personal provenance and exceptional presence.
