Country Group:
19th century Japanese or other Buddhist “pocket” shrine ( 3"H x 2.25"W x 1"D ) - 80g. This type of piece is typically carved of wood and is usually from Japan, though this one is so unusual that it could be from another Buddhist country. I believe it is carved from bone. It looks to have good age based on the patina and the wear. Period take a look at the photos for the condition and the details. The quality of the carving is surprisingly good. note that there are three faces, one looking out to each side in addition to the front old face.
