This large and beautifully preserved Northern Thai Fang style bronze Buddha dates to the 14th–15th century and represents one of the finest examples of this regional school. Sculptures of this type are increasingly difficult to find, particularly at this scale and with such refinement in casting and expression. The figure is seated in a composed meditative posture, its proportions balanced and assured, conveying both physical presence and inner stillness.

The face is the defining feature of this sculpture. Softly modeled with gently downcast eyes and a subtle, inward-focused expression, it radiates a deep spiritual concentration that is rarely preserved so clearly. This sense of calm and devotion is central to the Fang style and is exceptionally well realized here. The head and facial features retain excellent definition, while the overall modeling remains crisp yet restrained.

The bronze was cast using a fine alloy, evident in the smooth surface quality and the warm, even patina that has developed naturally over centuries. Traces of original surface treatment remain visible, adding depth and authenticity without distracting from the overall harmony of the piece. The lotus base is well proportioned and firmly integrated with the figure, reinforcing the sculpture’s grounded and monumental feel.

Large examples of Northern Thai Fang Buddhas in this condition are rare, and this piece stands out for its size, quality of casting, and especially for the quiet spiritual power of its expression. It is a truly special work, well suited for an advanced collection of Thai or Southeast Asian Buddhist sculpture.
