Monumentally/19thC or earlier Tibetan or Nepalese Buddhist copper repousse Tantric ritual skull cup-. I’ve offered several dozen Tibetan, Nepalese, and or Mongolian skull cups for sale over the decades, but never one remotely ascompelling or as large as this one ( 19"H x 12"W x 10.25"D ) - 5lbs . Much larger than life, it was almost certainly made for use in a temple for Tantric ceremonies. I could spend time describing all of the details, but better that you spend time magnifying the photos and looking closely at the details. Note the expressiveness and fierceness in the faces. Also pay attention to the fact that the entire top was originally covered in rich gilding. This truly has the power that great Tantric pieces possess-an energy that is hard to describe, but one that you know when you see it. It is challenging to create an any size object, but it is especially impressive when it is accomplished in such a complex object of such large scale..
