Chinese Buddha, beautifully carved in amber. Quite large and heavy for this type of piece. It is almost surely reconstituted amber, as a solid piece of natural amber this size would cost a small fortune. There are a number of amber carvings in the marketplace-they are of widely differing quality. This is a particularlly good one. Take a look at the photos and look into the face and you will see what I mean. It is more difficult to carve in this medium than in many others, which makes this piece quite special.
