16ThC Thai bronze Buddha, probably from the ancient kingdom of Fang, which used to exist in the north of Thailand. The Buddhas from that area have distinctive long necks and a particular look to their faces that you know once you see them. This is a nice one with good casting and sculpting and especially interesting base with a beautiful design sculpted into the base. Sometimes these kind of bases are sloppy in there casting and finishing, this one is carefully done in a way that greatly adds to the beauty of the statue. The patina is beginning to develop into a nice green color with the minerals growing out of the metal. In another 50 or hundred years, the entire statue will probably be beautiful even green color ( 8.75"H x 4.5"W x 2.75"D ) - 4.04lbs.
