17/18 century Burmese Buddha with bird. A bird could be a chicken or a pheasant or Peacock. It’s a beautifully formed bird. I’ve only seen a few buddhas over the decades that held a bird and I know there is a story of the Buddhist life that has a bird in it, though I cannot recall it well enough to tell it here. If I find it, I will include it in this description. It is indeed a Buddha as it has a flame of enlightenment. It’s a very expressive little Buddha, and with his bird, he has a real sense of presence. Many people who look at the group of Buddhas that it came from are immediately drawn to this one, even though many of the others are larger or more elaborate. It is not as smooth,, but it does not matter in this case as it is perfect just as it is.( 9"H x 3.5"W x 3"D ) - 1.55lbs.
