19th to early 20thC Java Buddha -large, exceptional sculpting, casting, finishing, and overall quality. It is the nicest example of its type I have ever encountered. A very nice size at 16 inches tall, including the back plate (notice the exceptional carved animal profiles) . It is substantially cast and weighs an impressive 11 3/4 pounds. The newer related examples tend to be thinner. I have trouble dating this type, but the surface is turning green from the inside out, it has no sharp edges and it is developing a truly lovely antique patina, so I believe it’s at least approaching 100 years old and could be a lot older. It is a truly striking piece that can fill any room.
Dimensions: ( 16"H x 11"W x 11"D ) - 11.75lbs
