A remarkable vintage/antique quartz crystal Buddha head. This is by far the most beautiful and the most skillfully carved Buddha head car in Crystal I have ever offered for sale. I have seen older and larger examples, but never one as beautiful, or done with as much precision and finesse. Spend time looking at the photos and you’ll see what I mean. It’s both the technical skill as well as the ability to capture the spiritual light within. That is so impressive. It’s also(softness) of the details, which makes the entire head look so natural and alive. What I mean by this is evident in the look of the snail curls on the top of the head. Typically, they are either sloppy and ill defined, and not very even, or they are sharp and done with great precision. The curls on the top of the head of this one are completely different. They are both done with precision and are gentle and natural at the same time-something very hard to do when carving in crystal. This is evidence by the fact that you simply do not come across Crystal carvings like this one that are done with such ability. The other thing is how beautiful it is and how much spiritual light shines from within. Whoever carved this was likely a devoted practitioner who carved this as part of their spiritual practice-possibly a monk or person who live a full-time religious life, though it may simply be a highly skilled artist who was able to transmit their own inner light into their sculptiures. I don’t believe this is a very early example, but it also is not new. Probably from some time in the 20th century. ( 2"H x 1.375"W x 1.25"D ) - 80g.
