Very nice Shan style Buddha giving his first sermon in the deer park. This piece is a style used in north Burma in the 18/19thC to teach the stories associated with the Buddha's life. This one is complete, with a main Buddha, 2 nicely sculpted deer, and 5 separately cast disciples. These pieces are provincially cast., and have a delightful folk quality. This one is in much better condition than most, which much of it's original gilding. 4 and 1/8 inches at the highest point, and 4 and 3/4 inches high at the widest.
