Very fine Laos Buddha made in a Royal foundry or other important place. The casting is superb, and the alloy used appears to have a significant amount of precious metal (probably silver and gold) in it- it is extremely heavy and has a special patina. The last owner unbelievably took off a gold cap or crown which had covered the head for 400 years and somehow lost it. You can still see traces of the almost pure gold on the top of the head. This is why there is no hair at all. I have never seen a Buddha made with a gold crown other than large ones in royal palaces, so I believe that this was made for someone or someplace very important. It sits close to 9 inches tall. One of a kind- a true collector’s piece
