The real deal- a beautiful, high quality, and large Khmer Buddha or Bodhisattva head. It is carved out of a soft white stone. It comes out of an estate which was collected long ago and has been in storage for over 35 years. The collector was a gentleman in Air America (CIA) who lived in East Thailand for many years during the late 1960's and 70's, and who shipped a large amount of stuff back when he returned- most of it sat in storage until his estate was disbursed 2 years ago. I was fortunate enough to purchase a group of items which included many fabulous items including this head. It is approx 12 inches tall on the base, and 7.5 inches tall for the head only, and roughly 5 inches wide. There is wear as can be seen in the photos, but no repairs that I can see. Extremely sweet face- far superior to almost all the fakes, and the vast majority of the authentic ones out there. A valuable and sought after item. I've seen far lesser pieces sell for twice the price of this one.
