Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This is a very special 18th, or possibly early 19th century Tibetan or Mongolian Copper Buddha- It looks to be partially cast and partially repousse. It is partially gilded, and has polychrome in some places. This is, no question, the finest of its type I have ever seen- anywhere. Out of a very large Northwest collection amassed in the 1910’s. Very special piece. Sits a full 7 inches tall. The detail and workmanship are exquisite. The serenity of this piece is powerful. What really stands out however, is the incredible beauty of this Buddha. Would go for a much higher price in other venues.
