Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
15thC Tibetan Monk gilded in a very uncommon pink gold. He was very hard to photograph, and I apologize for the quality of the photos attached. There is a bit of writing on the back (perhaps his name?). The base is sealed, and then was coated with charcoal long ago- a chunk is held in place with a piece of tape as seen in the photos. I think someone was thinking about opening it up but stopped (thankfully!) before unsealing it. Sits 4.75 inches tall. It is clearly a portrait of a historical figure- finely detailed, sculpted and finished. He has a deep, serence feeling.
