Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
One of my very best- a fine and rare 14/15th century Tibetan Buddhist Manuscript Cover. It is offered for less than half of what it would go for in a high end Asian Art setting. The carving is superb, the patina and condition are fist rate. It is a very good size for its type at 28 inches long by 10.5 inches wide by 1.2 inches deep. Note the incredible finesse and quality of the carving- the Bodhisattvas are little more than 2 inches tall, and the Garudas over the central figure are barely an inch tall. Still, after 600 years, they manage to still display a remarkable level of detail and animation.Special!
