Burmese Pyu bronze Buddha- the earliest of all Burmese Buddhas. Even though long buried, his sensitive modeling shines through, and manages to projects a powerful, palpable, spiritual presence. There is a small home in the front in the robes below the ankles. I believe that this is where it was probably originally mounted to a separately cast bronze base, although it is impossible to know for sure. Complete authentic Pyu bronzes of this size are exceedingly rare. Pieces of such feeling, far more so. He sits just over 5 inches- would have sat well over 7 inches on his base.
