This is an 18th century Indian Brass or Bronze alloy Shiva shrine. I've seen many of these over the years- this one has the most special Shiva I've seen. I could wax poetic about him, but look at his serene face and plump body in the photos- they tell the story, He has the traditional attendants on each side. In excellent condition- the base has casting flaws where it meets the back plate original to the manufacture. As with most of this type he does not stand on his own- he was made to hang or to sit on an altar. A very good size at over 8.25 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide. Lovely!
