This is an extremely wonderful late 18th century gilded bronze elephant with silver ears, gold eyes, and gold, silver and copper inlay finely inlaid on his back. I believe he is from the Quian Lung period, although I am not positive that he is even Chinese. He is missing his tusks, which were probably either ivory or gold. He looks to be of royal quality. He was found underneath a very old house which was being excavated in upstate New York. He was probably put there for good luck in the 19th century. He has a loss in his right side that can be seen in the photos. 5 long."
