Very fine Kamphen Phet style Thai Buddha from the 15th century. This type follows the Sukothai period, and tends to be more masculine, with a broader chest and a more square face. He still retains some Sukothai features, such as his long graceful limbs, and his knees hanging out over the edge of the base. This is an outstanding example, with everything going for it- great sculpting and casting, a superb untouched patina, and a very rare and attractive base (I’ve never seen this style of base before in all of my years of collecting). He sits just over 7 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide at the knees.
