Uncommon Burmese Buddha- mostly Shan, with some possible other tribal influence thrown in. He is a “Lotus Buddha”, which is a type of Buddha found only in Burma. It is almost always found in wood or lacquer- almost never in bronze. Typically they are considered to protect the home, especially from fire. Often they are put in the center of a bowl of water. This is the only one of its type I have seen. Probably 18th century, he has a wonderful chocolate brown patina and a unique and very cute face. 5.75" tall
