A personal favorite- a (probably) Burmese Monk portrait sculpture done in Tibetan style. Gilded, with a name or phrase lightly inscribed in the base. This is the only early bronze piece of its type I have ever come across (I’ve come across a few in lacquer or wood- none quite as nice, and none so Tibetan looking). Gilded with a high quality gilding (again more like in Tibet than in Burma. Hard to date, as I’m not familiar with this type, based on the feel, casting, patina, gilding etc, I’m estimating 18th century. I am going to put this in to the “Tibetan” section, as I believe that stylistically he belongs there even though he was probably made just south of there. Sits a bit over 6 inches tall. All original.
