This is a wonderful yellow ancient carved glass Buddha from Northern Thailand. It was dug up 30 years ago in the "Hot" or "Hod" district, before an area that previously had a number of early temples was flooded to make a reservoir. Any Thai early glass Buddhas are rare: the ones made out of this extremely dense glass are rarer. The glass includes gold and other presious metals, which gives it intense weight and an oxidized surface. This piece is as good as the best pieces in Thailand museums. 3.75 inches tall by a little under 3 inches wide at the knees.
