This is a very early bronze Bodhisattva from the island of Java. It was collected in Java in the 1960’s by the renowned auction house of Spink, which is based in London. I purchased it many years ago from an English collector who was selling off a significant part of an important collection. While the piece has losses as can be seen in the photos, it still has a grace and finesse not typically encountered in such early bronzes from this area. It is solid cast and comes on a custom-made stand. The actual bronze is 4 inches tall; sitting on the stand it is closer to 5 inches tall.
