This is a very special Buddha, and a personal favorite. It is a large, very finely sculpted and cast Thai bronze Buddha, from the area of Nan, (now a modern city and province, it was a small kindom in northeast Thailand until modern times). It's Buddhas have influences from Northern Thai (Lanna) style as well as from Laos Buddhas. It has good age to it, and I am estimating 18/19th century. It is an extremely large example at over 20.5 inches tall by a full 11 inches wide at the knees. The patina is superb- as good as they get. It does not appear to have ever been gilded. It has a very special open work base, with a unique button" which has been rubbed through the ages for good luck. The button has a small amount of glass inlay surrounding it which looks to be original. Condition is near perfect. Simply put- I have not seen one better."
