Price reduced from original website price. This is a very nice Jain Deity from India with a 7 headed Naga Serpent protecting him. I have never had anything like him,. He came from a very knowledgeable American collector who needed to sell it due to financial difficulties. I am offering it with a reserve very close to the price I paid for it. She indicated that he is 18th century. He appears to be covered with original or very early black lacquer. The underlying stone appears to be quite hard,. The condition is excellent, with a few chips to the Naga heads and base, but the actual figure is remarkably complete with no repairs. The Naga heads have protected the face from any damage or losses. It is quite substantial at over 11 inches high, 7 and 1/2 inches wide, and over 3 inches deep. It weighs 136 ounces. Pieces like this are very hard to find.
