Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
Very uncommon 18/19thC Nepalese or Tibetan pierced repousse box- probably for temple use. Significant wear from ritual use. The nose of the deity on top is worn though. Very finly done. I've never seen another like it- all of the related pieces I've seen have either been early 20th century or modern emulations- this is the real thing. 7 inches wide by 5 inches deep by 3 inches high.
