Fantastic and classic Angkor Wat Era statue of Uma. Uma is usually found as part a Trilogy in Khmer art with Buddha in the center and Vishnu on the other side. This one is as good as those found at high end auctions. It has had an interesting recent history: it was stolen from the previous owner in the early 1980's along with a number of other high end pieces. Many years later the collection was recovered after the person who took them tried to sell one. Unlike most of the bronzes from this period, I do not believe that this one was ever buried. It has a wonderful Javerman" type face. It is beautiful in every way. Stands 5 and 3/4 inches high."
