30" Seated Buddha
19th C Shan Style Burmese Buddha. Sculpted out of a mixture of lacquer and ash. Hollow, with walls close to 1 inch thick. Many large Shan style Buddhas from this period were made of this materal. This type of Buddha is extremely light in weight. Overall good condition- there is a hairline crack at the neck (stable) and a small loss to the back of the base. As compared to most 19th century examples of this type, he is in fine shape. Originally would have had a bottle shaped wooden finial on top of his head.
