Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This is an extremely animated and fine 16/17th Padmasambhava. I believe he was responsible for bringing Buddhism to Tibet. It has that special soft feel of very fine and old Tibetan bronzes. The alloy is a dark silver/bronze color. There are traces of gilding and lacquer on the bark old patina. Many Tibetan bronzes, while beautiful, almost look exactly like many related pieces. A few, like this one, look and feel as if they have been individually sculpted almost like a portrait sculpture. It measures a little less than 6 inches.
