Country Group: South and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam)
This is a very uncommon Laos Buddha made of almost pure silver. Unlike most of the silver Buddhas of that era the casting is substantial. Perhaps even more uncommon is that it has remained long uncleaned and has an almost black patina. Most S.E. Asian silver Buddhas I have seen are regularly cleaned. It looks lighter in the photos due to the very bright photography lights. It has some expectable wear given the age and softness of the silver. The face radiates a deep serenity, Low starting price given the rarity and value of this lovely Buddha. It stands 6 and 5/8th inches tall by 4 and 1/4 inches wide: It is larger than the height suggests, as it has a very short base.
