Copper & Iron, 11-1/2 Inches Tall, on a custom base 5" tall, 5" x 4"
Remarkable early and large Korean Buddha cast out of an alloy to which a magnet sticks. Remains of original gilding as seen in the photos. I believe the left arm may have originally stuck out rather than face downwards-it is hard to know for sure. Wonderful large, expressive head. In an 8/9thC style, but may be a little later-certainly an early and impressive example.
