Country Group:South and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam)
Item id: 344

This is anextremely unusual 12-14thC Burmese Buddha. It came from the collection of a high end dealer in Chinese antiques. I bought many of the Southeast Asian items from his personal collection about 2 years after he passed away. This one was probably the masterpiece of the group: his widow, wanting to honor him, went about "cleaning" this wonderful piece. She got some metal polish out of the cabinet, and cleaned away 800 years of patina.
