Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
SUPERB large Sakyamuni Buddha before reaching enlightenment. Very uncommon-powerful. Larger than the dimensions suggest, as if he had a typical base and finial he would sit 16 to 18 inches tall. Previous owner believed it to be 17/18thC. I believe it may be earlier. 12" tall, 10" wide, 8" deep. Base plate appears to be original, though the seal was opened at some point.
Very special piece with a palpable spiritual presence. I've never had a piece like this before. Not inexpensive.
