This is an extremely uncommon and powerfully sculpted Burmese Terracotta Buddha plaque. I've seen very few like this, and most have been broken or very worn. It is extremely old: the 13-16thC is an educated guess: there are no good reference books in English on this type of piece. I guarantee him to be at least 300 years old, and probably twice that age. The face is wonderful-it is both strong and at the same time is kind and gentle. The patina is ancient and untouched. The condition is excellent, with no repairs. There is part of the lower reverse missing, but I believe that this was done shortly after the piece was sculpted, and that this piece was originally attached to something. It stands 5.5 inches high, and comes with a custom base.
